Arab Aliens-2020
This is a symbol of a bigger concept related to the underrepresentation of Arabs and the conflicts in the Middle East in USA based politics, media and dialogue.
Using excessiveness as an element that encounters this underrepresentation and digitizing it with mass print-outs speaks to the manipulation and contemporary role of social media as a primary source of news. The focus is also on repetition of the action and using excessiveness as a way to demand representation and fight against supremacy.
The first sketch was made by using different shades of charcoal only. The smaller sketches to the right also have charcoal with pencil and ink.
Every character has a different relationship with the conflict. They have their own priorities, beliefs, and traditions. Some of them are expacts while others at home. Are you judging them or are they just different from you?
